Juventus FC has a new coach.

Tiago Motta has quit as Juventus head coach

After two crushing defeats, as well as elimination from the Champions League and the Italian Cup in February, Juventus Turin has replaced its head coach. Instead of Thiago Motta, who held this post since June 2024, the team will be led by Igor Tudor. This was reported by the press service of the club.

Bad luck has been plaguing Juventus lately: the team is only fifth in Serie A, and the last two matches ended in crushing defeats to Fiorentina (0:3) and Atalanta (0:4). In addition, in February, the club was eliminated from the Champions League at the 1/8 finals stage, losing to PSV, and left the Italian Cup after losing in the quarterfinals to Empoli.

Prior to joining Juventus, Motta coached teams such as Bologna, Spezia and Genoa.

Tudor, a 1998 World Cup bronze medalist with Croatia, was in charge of Lazio at the end of last season following the departure of Maurizio Sarri. His resume also includes stints at clubs such as Hajduk, PAOK, Galatasaray, Verona and Udinese.

Earlier, Cristiano Ronaldo got into a verbal altercation with a journalist before the match. Before that, he showed a picture of his family.

The former Russian national team player assessed the current strategy of the St. Petersburg club

Despite fluctuating results and the absence of some key players from Russian Premier League (RPL) matches, Zenit St. Petersburg retain their chances of winning the title. According to Maxim Demenko, a former player of the club and the Russian national team, the team will fight to the end if it manages to avoid losses among the leaders.

Following the results of the last round Zenit defeated Rubin Kazan 4-0, which allowed the club to move to second place in the standings. Now the St. Petersburgers have 46 points, which is three less than the leader of the championship - “Krasnodar”. “Spartak”, which lost points in the match with ‘Akhmat’, now occupies the third line with 44 points.

Demenko noted to Gazeta.Ru that the absence of midfielder Wendel affected the game, as the team's tactical scheme largely depends on him. However, the overall level of Zenit remains high, and the club is capable of continuing the fight for the championship, if it can avoid further personnel losses.

Earlier, former Barcelona player Dani Alves announced plans to receive monetary compensation for the time spent in detention after he was acquitted in a rape case.
