St. Petersburg residents increasingly store things in rented warehouses

Rental of warehouses for storing things is in demand in St. Petersburg

Analysts note that despite the growth in the number of warehouses and operators, the demand for these services is still far ahead of them. Now almost all such warehouses are almost completely bought out for the near future. At the same time, the prices for these services have hardly grown so far.

In St. Petersburg, the demand for storing personal belongings in specialized warehouses - so-called self-storage - has grown considerably. Their occupancy rate is now constantly in the range of 80% to 100%, and supply is not keeping up with demand. Last year their number in the city increased from 178 to 183, and their total area is 50,000 square meters.

According to Kommersant, there are now 46 operators in the market, and their rotation reaches 35%, so it is impossible to call this sphere stable. Despite the growing demand, the prices for these services remain at approximately the same level. As a year ago, for each square meter it is necessary to pay from 800 to 2800 rubles per month. Usually rent a room with an area of 3-5 square meters. To reach the payback period for such a business in a successful coincidence of circumstances requires an average of 5-6 years.

In the Parliament of St. Petersburg proposed to prohibit the issuance of mortgages on studio apartments with an area of less than 28 square meters.

Banks in St. Petersburg recently reported record profits for 2024.

Dmitry Gorin, Vice-President of the Russian Travel Agency, stressed that organized tourists are in a more advantageous position in case of emergencies.

In an interview with the Public News Service, he specified that tour operators are responsible for the quality of the tour product, including flight, accommodation, insurance policy, transfers and excursions, excluding personal expenses and risks of travelers. If difficulties arise, the organized tourist can contact the tour operator, for example, to contact the insurance company.

Definitely, the tour operator will help," said the expert.

The expert specified that the tour operator will not reimburse the additional costs incurred due to force majeure. However, if there is insurance, he can help in communicating with the insurance company.

The only thing to keep in mind is that financial expenses during the trip are the personal responsibility of the tourist. He pays all additional expenses on his own. The tour operator does not assist in any payments, - reminded Dmitry Gorin.

He added that in case of emergencies tour operators, as a rule, support their clients.

Earlier analysts found out where St. Petersburg residents will go to rest on May holidays. Aeroflot airline also announced that direct flights to Abu Dhabi will be operated in the summer period.
