St. Petersburg authorities don't like how kickshare operators comply with the SIM agreement

Due to the growing number of accidents involving electric scooters in Russia in St. Petersburg, local authorities are dissatisfied with the compliance with the signed agreement by the kickshare operators. Last year, the number of accidents increased by 42.8%, and the share of accidents involving rented vehicles rose to 65.5%.

The Committee on Transport recorded violations related to the availability of electric scooter rentals to persons under 18 years of age. According to the contract, operators are obliged to make efforts to provide SIM to adult citizens and to comply with the rules of use, but this condition is not fulfilled.

It is also known that scooters are parked in prohibited areas: in the Central, Admiralteysky, Petrogradsky and Vasileostrovsky districts, near metro stations and crosswalks.

The operators' statements that they provide services only to adults do not correspond to the wording of the current agreement, writes St. Petersburg2.

Before next year's elections to the Zakobrazhnaya Assembly, candidates can use the topic of regulation of SIM use for their election campaigns, offering solutions to existing problems and, thanks to this, attracting the attention of voters.

Earlier it became known that over the weekend ten drivers of electric scooters were hospitalized in the city.
