Olympic athlete and javelin thrower Galina Zybina has passed away

During her athletic career, Zybina represented the USSR four times at the Olympic Games. She holds many records and awards. She went to the Olympic Games for the first time in 1952.

Galina Zybina, who was one of the first Soviet sportswomen who brought the USSR medals at the Olympic Games in 1952, died in St. Petersburg on August 10 at the age of 93. This was reported by the city Committee on Physical Culture and Sports. Galina Zybina survived the siege of Leningrad and became a Merited Master of Sports of the Soviet Union.

Zybina was a multiple champion of the USSR in javelin throwing, setting 13 records in this discipline. In total, the athlete participated in four Olympic Games. In June 2024, she handed over her awards, medals, as well as personal belongings to the State Sports Museum of St. Petersburg.

On the eve of the new tourist season in St. Petersburg, owners of pleasure boats are preparing to raise ticket prices by almost a third. For adults, ticket prices will increase by an average of 100 rubles and will reach 2600 rubles for some routes. The cheapest today are trips under the drawbridges - 1000 rubles, but soon tickets will add another 200 rubles.

In the case of a number of VIP-tickets prices have increased by Br2,000 or 10% at once. As calculated by the edition “Delovoy Peterburg”, for a trip from the northern capital to Peterhof and Oreshek fortress will have to pay 300 and 400 rubles respectively, or 30% and 10% more. It is not yet known how the cost of walks on motorboats, which will begin on April 26, will change. The beginning of the navigation season on the Neva and the Malaya Neva this year is scheduled for April 10.
